Pet Photos with Santa and Holiday Boutique Set for Nov. 15 at Riverside Humane Society Pet Adoption Center

Fun for the Entire Family with Activities for Kids, Book Signing, and Bake Sale

RIVERSIDE, CA, Oct. 19, 2009 — Santa Claus will make a special appearance at the Riverside Humane Society Pet Adoption Center on Sunday, November 15, for the annual Pet Photos with Santa.  The event takes place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Adoption Center, 6165 Industrial Ave. in Riverside.  From puppies to parakeets, cats to caterpillars…professional photographer Michael J. Elderman of Riverside will be taking photos of people’s pets just in time for the holidays.

Several photo items will be offered for keepsakes and gifts:  5 poses on a CD, $10; framed 5×7 photo, $10; photo Christmas ornament, $5; photo button or key chain, $5.  Pets must be registered by 2 p.m. for a photo session.  Due to the popularity of this event, early registration is advised.  All animals must be on a leash or in a pet carrier.

This free event is open to the public and promises to be a fun day for the entire family.  Pet Photo sittings are not required to attend.  There will be an activities area where kids can make pet- and holiday-themed crafts, enjoy treats, and learn about the humane treatment of animals.  For shoppers, there be a Holiday Boutique featuring gifts and gift baskets for people and pets and holiday decorations.  There also will be a bake sale, and vendors will be selling refreshments.

Riverside author Ruth Strother will be signing her book “W is for Woof: A Dog Alphabet.”  This adorable book is the perfect gift for dog lovers of all ages.  Strother is the former editor-in-chief of the book division of Fancy Publications which publishes “Dog Fancy,” “Popular Dogs” and other magazines.

The Pet Adoption Center is open for adoptions Sundays 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.  Critter Corner pet supply store inside the Center is also open.
