Employers Increase Spending on Workers’ Holiday Gifts

Last year we reported that 78% of American workers would rather receive a holiday gift than have an office party, and 73% of American companies gave gifts to their employees. It looks like this year employers will be more generous with their holiday gifts to employees, possibly in an effort to retain workers as the job market becomes more active.

A recent nationwide survey of a cross-section of industries conducted by the American Specialty Institute shows that the average price of an employee gift is $44, up almost 16% from 2014. Nearly 25% of the companies surveyed will give gifts valued at over $100 each.

The top items employers plan to give are gift cards and cash bonuses, as well as logoed food / beverage gifts and apparel.
